Our fibre optic networks for municipalities and cities

Swiss4net is present in municipalities and cities across all three language regions of Switzerland with its local point-to-point FTTH fibre optic networks. A local operating company is established for each fibre optic network and is responsible for planning, construction and operation in the respective region.

Swiss4net finances, builds and operates the fibre optic network infrastructure together with its operating companies. Access to existing ducts on public land is a prerequisite for network expansion. Swiss4net pays the respective owners a fee for their long-term use. This enables fibre optic expansion to be implemented more economically and sustainably. Existing infrastructure is put to continued use and civil engineering work is reduced.

The Swiss4net fibre optic networks are openly available to all telecommunications providers. Providers offer their own services via our fibre optic infrastructure. This creates strong competition and reinforces the free choice of provider. Residents and businesses benefit from comprehensive OTO Ready-for-Service infrastructure and a wide choice of Internet, TV and telephone services. The point-to-point architecture enables high and consistent upload and download bandwidths as well as continuous availability.
